Intro to Chair Yoga

an mini practice for everyone

Hello Friends,

Today’s special is an easy and informal 8 minute Chair Yoga practice!

I often share these poses with my clients for a variety of reasons. Firstly, many people work at a desk all day and (as you likely know) hours of chair sitting is NOT GOOD for your back, hips or general posture. Chair Yoga is an easy way to relieve strain that builds up in the spine, muscles and other tissues.

Another benefit of Chair Yoga is that it’s accessible to those who may find getting up and down off the floor difficult (or a flat out impossibility!) A practice like this also comes in handy in other circumstances such as sitting as a passenger in a car, plane or even on the couch (though a harder surfaced seat is always preferred.) You may not be able to do all the poses in every seated situation, but you can always do at least a few!

If any of these poses don’t align with your body, go ahead and skip them or modify if possible. I hope you find the practice helpful!

Oh, and by the way, are you getting benefit from these posts? If so, please consider becoming a paying reader! By donating just $6/month (or $60/year you kindly support the time and effort it takes me to share my offerings.

Love,
Cory
