Happy New Year

a poem

It seems to me
there comes a time in life
when you don’t need anyone else to tell you how to do it.

You know
and you lead
with light on the end of your fingertips
you point
That Way.

You walk
through the cool underbrush
over the tall wet grass
or
across a desert
your lips cracked

Walk, then.

With your legs
stronger than fear
Walk, then.
With stars tangled in your hair
wind at your chest
eyes closed

Who needs sight?
when you have
within you
the depth
of your
Self

The culmination
of your experiences
the power
of all you know.
