Sometimes it’s not easy- making yourself eat well and exercise. It’s not easy keeping the house clean and groceries stocked, the bills paid and money coming in. (And, dude - whoever came up with the brilliant plan that kids should become teens at the same time as their mom’s menopause…. that’s just plain wrong!)
It’s not all easy and there’s a lot going on in the world right now… but our best bet is always to take care of ourselves. That’s what I work on every single day in some shape or form.
I worked out this weekend when I REALLY DID NOT WANT TO and I was so happy when I did and now my legs are pleasantly sore. That’s a win. I rested a LOT because that’s what I needed. I cleaned out a bookshelf and got rid of a lot of books from when my kids were tots. I sat in bed and watched movies and that’s a win too. I ate a lot of salads (including a salad out with my older daughter at a place called “Satellite” in downtown SB that has that great salad in the pic!) I also drank a lot of water and tea and fresh squeezed orange juice and went to the Farmers Market and tried to do laundry and taxes. (Failed the laundry and taxes, but can’t win ‘em all. )
I don’t know, guys. The best advice I can offer you this week is the advice I’m taking myself…
What you allow is what will continue.
Follow your plan and not your mood.
Whether you are committed to becoming cleaner and stronger in your mind, your body or both, I salute you. And I join you. It’s an everyday kind of thing. It’s a lifestyle. The answers are out there. The support is out there. Sure, there are low points- but when you feel low, go for a run. Even if it’s just a mile. If you can’t run, walk. If you can’t walk- have someone drive you where you can look out at a beautiful view and remember…your struggle is what you make it. It could be the beautiful inspiration you need to do something absolutely life-changing.
It could.

This is a heartbreaking world right now, but if we don't talk about the many good things, who will? Some people in my life are experiencing things I can't imagine like a burned down house, but these same people are looking at every tiny blessing and kindness. I will be strong and healthy so that I have the chance to be a tiny blessing to anyone passing through my orbit. Note to self.
